Glacier Guest Room – Affordable Private Room in Mendenhall Valley

Glacier Guest Room offers a simple, affordable way to experience Juneau from the convenient Mendenhall Valley. Your private room is located on the second floor of a remodeled Tudor-style home that is shared with other residents and guests.

The room includes a comfortable double bed, dresser, nightstand, and lamp. Guests also have access to the home's shared kitchen, dining area, living spaces, TV room, laundry room, and three full bathrooms.
The home is designed for comfortable shared living. Long-term residents may occupy other rooms, and guests are expected to treat the common areas as shared spaces. You'll have your own refrigerator shelf and access to the kitchen's supplies and equipment.

Location is one of the property's biggest advantages. The bus stop is just steps from the front door, with plenty of on-site parking. Mendenhall Glacier is approximately 2 miles away, and nearby bike paths and trails provide an alternative way to explore the area. Duck Creek Market is less than a mile away, while the airport is approximately 2.5 miles away, the University of Alaska is 4.5 miles away, and the ferry terminal is about 6 miles away.
The property offers self-check-in, making late arrivals convenient. Your door code will be provided a few days before arrival. Standard check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is at 11 AM. Early check-in and late check-out may be available for an additional fee, depending on availability.

For guests interested in exploring more of Alaska, property manager Kelli offers vacation rental guests a 10% discount on tours through Alaska Travel Adventures. Available excursions include whale watching, glacier tours, kayaking, rafting, hiking, gold panning, private transportation, and more throughout Southeast Alaska.

Please note that this is shared accommodation rather than an entire private home. The house has a lived-in, roommate-style environment, and common areas are cleaned regularly but may not be cleaned immediately before every arrival.

This is a practical choice for travelers who prioritize location, affordability, transportation access, and proximity to Mendenhall Glacier over the privacy of an entire home.

Common areas are not awkward to use. Everything perfectly clean. All was quiet as if I owned the place. I'm an old-man solo traveler. I came to bicycle, and Kelli arranged an inexpensive rental. The area is beautiful, and I wore myself out! There's no shortage of trails, from greenway to primitive. I rode them all and loved every minute. About the location...... There are two primary areas to stay in Juneau. Downtown area hosts cruise ships and offers the usual expected amenities. This is not what I wanted. Kelli's place is at the top of Mendenhall Valley, very near the glacier. Bike to the glacier and Nugget Falls in 10-15 minutes. The trail on the West side of the lake turns very primitive toward the end. Likewise for Montana Creek. All great fun. Paved bike trail will take you to Juneau for a nice 13 mile ride. Cross the bridge and ride Douglas island. The ski lodge at the top makes for a nice ride and a real workout. For me, the Mendenhall Valley location is to be very much preferred for lodging. Most commerce is about three miles away. Bus service is readily available, but for me the area is so bicycle friendly there was no other way to go. About Alaskan drivers - best in the world. I have visited Anchorage and Fairbanks several times and drove to Valdez. Every time, no exception, the drivers are the best. No aggression at all. Biking Juneau is safe! I don't know if the bnb is on city or well water, but it is absolutely the best. Transportation from the airport was a breeze. Get directions a half mile walk to the Nugget Mall. The bus costs two dollars and will take you literally to your front door! Where you stay in Juneau should be dictated by the type of trip you intend. I was not interested in tours or outings, but Kelli does arrange these things for you. For my intended activity, I just couldn't be happier with my stay.”

Thank you for everything. It was wonderful. The 1 and only complaint is that we were only allowed to book for a 2 day stay. When we needed much longer and had to move to a different hotel.

I have stayed at Grandma's House three times now and plan to stay there on all my Juneau visits. Rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable and the location is excellent if you want to be in the Mendenhall Valley.

I stayed in this place for 8 days. 1. The cleaning lady did a super good job. 2. Excellent location to the glacier, the glacier campground, airport, super markets,... 3. Lots of beautiful hiking trails just one mile away 4. City bus station right in front of the house (basically no need the r rental car- saved at least $200/day) 5. Met other renters, all very nice, show mutual respect, Sharing stories.. 6. For any issue, host responded promptly in 15 minutes *** Made me felt at home, and I will come back ***
