The atmosphere is relaxed and similar to living with roommates. Guests generally keep to themselves while sharing the common areas respectfully. There is also plenty of parking at the property.
Location is one of the biggest advantages of Twin Peaks. The bus stop is just steps from the front door, and the Mendenhall Glacier is approximately 2 miles away. You can reach the glacier by car, paved bike path, or nearby trails. Duck Creek Market is less than a mile away and approximately a 15-minute walk. The airport is about 2.5 miles away, the University of Alaska is approximately 4.5 miles away, and the ferry terminal is about 6 miles away.
Aunt Margaret lived in this house for more than 30 years and always had a room available for someone who needed one. Kelli has continued that tradition by keeping the home available as an affordable option for Alaska visitors and longer-term residents.
Your private room will be ready for you upon arrival. The shared areas are maintained as a reasonable roommate-style living environment. You'll have your own shelf in the refrigerator and are welcome to use the kitchen supplies and equipment. Common areas are cleaned twice per month, but cleaning is not necessarily scheduled immediately before every stay.
Self-check-in makes late arrivals convenient. Your door code will be provided a couple of days before arrival. Check-in is at 4:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out may be available for a $50 fee when arranged a couple of days before arrival or departure.
