Welcome to Lucky Duck, a private guest room inside the eclectic and art-filled Precision Lodge in Juneau. Set on the second level, the room offers the comfort and privacy of a hotel-style stay while giving you access to the character and shared spaces of a unique Alaskan lodge.
The room features a comfortable queen bed, large windows overlooking the forest, internet, cable and streaming TV, and a private bathroom finished with luxury granite and stonework. The custom bathroom includes a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower with glass doors, a granite vanity, and a private washer and dryer.
Shared Lodge Spaces
Lucky Duck is located within the shared area of Precision Lodge, where guests share access to a beautifully crafted common space and kitchen. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, dishwasher, hot plate, microwave, and toaster oven.
Throughout the lodge, you'll find custom rockwork, three-dimensional art, and eclectic pieces created by owner and artist Johney Engle. The property itself reflects Johney's passion for stone fabrication, craftsmanship, and creative design, making the lodge an experience in its own right.
Explore Juneau
The lodge borders the Tongass National Forest and is conveniently located near Auke Lake, Auke Bay, the University of Alaska, and the Mendenhall Glacier. Trails and fishing spots are within walking distance, while Statter Harbor is about a mile away for seasonal adventures such as whale watching, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
Guests can also rent fishing poles and bicycles on site for nearby exploration.
Good to Know
Johney lives and works on the property and operates his rock fabrication shop below the guest room. Shop noise can be heard from the room during operating hours, Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Guests who are sensitive to daytime noise may want to keep this in mind when choosing the property.
Self-check-in is available after 4:00 PM using a lockbox code provided a few days before arrival. Check-out is at 11:00 AM.
Early check-in and late check-out may be available for a fee with advance notice.
Property manager Kelli is also nearby and available by phone or messaging if assistance is needed.
