Yes! You would be surprised how NOT COLD it is in Alaska. There are two phenomenal ski areas in Alaska both bases are near sea level resulting in moderate temperatures. Both areas are within close distance to an airport. You can ski the same day you arrive.

Alyeska Resort – Steep and Deep

  • 250 ft. base and summits at 3,939 ft.
  • 1,619 skiable acres and 669” annual snow on average
  • 7 lifts including a 60-person tram which protects you completely from the weather.
  • The little town of Girdwood has several good restaurants, shops, a brewery, and many other activities. It is a walking community with a complimentary shuttle – donations are welcome. Our favorite restaurant is the Double Musky.
  • It’s super cool that Alyeska allows you to ski for free if you show your same day boarding pass at the ticket counter.
  • Alyeska is also on the Ikon pass!

Eaglecrest – All Day Powder and minimal lift lines

  • 1,130 base and summits at 2,750 with a 2 mile longest run.
  • Community owned and operated – It’s not ever crowded
  • Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so get there for “Powder Thursday”
  • Eaglecrest has lots of trees! The snow is protected with great, steep tree skiing
  • 15 miles from beautiful downtown Juneau.
